GMG school board to fill Duden’s vacant at-large director seat | News, Sports, Jobs

GARWIN — The GMG Board of Education is set to hold a special board meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 29 beginning at 6 pm at the high school in Garwin for those interested in filling the at– large director seat left vacant by former member Stacey Duden.

Duden, who was elected in 2021, resigned during a special board meeting held on Wednesday, Oct. 26. Immediately following her resignation, she was appointed to serve as the 2022–2023 secretary/treasurer of the board.

Anyone interested in filling the vacancy must be an eligible elector (United States citizen, Iowa resident, at least 18 years old) and reside in the GMG Community School District.

During the Nov. 29 meeting, interested individuals will be allowed five to seven minutes each to express their values ​​and beliefs. The GMG school board is asking those interested in filling the vacancy to be ready to answer the following questions:

— Why do you want to join the board?

— How will you balance the needs of our employees, students, and stakeholders?

— What is your definition of success when it comes to GMG CSD?

After listening to all who would like to be considered for the position, the school board will vote to appoint an individual for the vacancy.

The individual appointed will serve in the role from December 2022 to November 2023. The at–large director seat will then be up for election during the regular city and school election set to take place in November 2023.
